Principal Kenji Yano, PhD, earned graduate degrees in Japan and the US. Yano's Master's, doctoral and postdoctoral studies dealt with broad areas of biomedical and food sciences. He is the author and the coauthor of 27 peer-reviewed scientific articles and abstracts. Previously, he was involved in pharmaceutical product development at TERUMO Corporation in Japan. More recently, Dr. Yano played a key role in developing an international chemical compound registration program at Ann Arbor-based NSF International. In that capacity, he successfully built relationships with chemical manufacturers, trade associations and regulatory agencies worldwide. He served as US expert on the ISO Technical Committee 199 in the development of ISO 21469. Dr. Yano also frequently spoke at trade conferences and contributed technical papers to trade journals. During his tenure at NSF, his program's clientele expanded from 0 to 770 companies in 29 countries including Japan. Dr. Yano has been an independent business consultant since 2006. He currently teaches Japanese language and culture at Washtenaw Community College.
